SNAP Documentation Specialist


The SNAP Documentation Specialist is responsible for overseeing and optimizing internal controls, that cover the SNAP Program service. The Documentation Specialist will be the main approval reviewer for enrollment into SNAP benefits for DTA’s SNAP Employment and Training (E&T) program and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Documentation Specialist ensures compliance of enrollment criteria and collects and review all final application for approval. Applications for SNAP benefits are based on specific criteria for the benefit of services. In addition to ensuring productive measures are met for outreach and performance of positive outcomes by achieving enrollment of participates for benefits.

To conduct outreach for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly the Food Stamp Program) targeting underserved communities. Providing clientele with education, assessment, and facilitated enrollment services to SNAP 50% of the position. Works with a team to conduct an intensive outreach campaign targeting the individuals, families, seniors, and communities that meet the criteria for SNAP benefits.

A valid Massachusetts driver’s license and vehicle and the registered car is required

  • Master Social Work preferred or bachelors’ degree or equivalent education
  • Preferably with intake Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) 1 year
  • Background in public health, public administration or human services
  • Knowledge of government benefits is a plus
  • Current experience in SNAP enrollment, SNAP training, MassHealth connector, virtual gateways Massachusetts preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of SNAP social service programming, compliance via documentation and management
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn various software packages
  • Detail-oriented skills with the ability to organize and prioritize workload
  • Previously demonstrated ability to achieve results by holding self-accountable
  • Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to work with and positively influence a variety of personalities and diverse work styles

Must be Culturally and Linguistically competent; Bilingual a plus: Haitian Creole, Portuguese Creole, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese or Cambodian


  • The main contact to audit streamline participates in programs. Assists with completing a review and with documentation completion and approvals
  • Creates weekly reports, maintains and tracks intake documentation and approvals to meet services specifications for enrollment
  • Properly tracks and follows up with direct care staff documentation
  • Distributes all finalized documentation to appropriate staff
  • Provides assess and procure accurate and complete documentation of procedures and protocols
  • Coordinates participate to ensure documentation compliance
  • Assists with maintaining and establishing standards for best practices including intake policies and procedures, trains employee on best practices and quality assurance measure
  • Audits records and trains staff on compliance measures and creates training materials
  • Assists in training and development of new and ongoing staff
  • Ensures documentation accurately reflects the quality, and risk of mortality to support correct reimbursement, and quality initiatives
  • Works in collaboration with all departments to ensure compliance with services specifications
  • Follows Operating Principles of Lamour Clinic when completing all tasks
  • Adheres to the system and department compliance policies, and any applicable laws and regulations. Performs other duties as assigned
  • Keep Program Director informed of potential and/or actual problems identified during the review process, concurrent progress and operation of the program
  • Perform initial case reviews, follow up reviews and queries based on program standards
  • Has strong working knowledge of participates indicators, SNAP regulations, reimbursement, and documentation requirements
  • Maintains professional competency by keeping abreast of new changes within the industry including advancements SNAP guidelines

  • $20 to $23 per hour depending on experience

    • Must be willing to be on call weekdays and weekends over phone
